BOO Decoration

Happy Halloween! Today I’m sharing with you a cute decoration I made last year for our fireplace in place of a fall wreath. It’s so simple and it looks so cute above our fireplace mantle.

Where to Buy the Supplies…

Wooden letters from Michaels or JoAnne Fabrics
Thin ribbon for the side of the letters
Thick ribbon to hang the letters
2 cans Glitter Blast Spray Paint in Starry Night
Sparkly Spiders from Michaels (I used the left over spiders from my Halloween Candle Holders)

How to Make the BOO Decoration…

Again, this project is super simple. I spray painted the letters black following the directions on the can. This took quite a lot of spray paint to get them as black as I wanted. For some reason the paint would not stick to the edges of the letters. I’m not sure if they were coated with something or not, but it wasn’t working for me so I focused on making the letters as black as I could.

When the letters were completely dry, I took hot glue and thin ribbon and lined the outside of the letters with the ribbon to hide the unfinished edges.

When that was dry, I glued the spider to the letters and then tied the large ribbon around the top of each one. I used clear command hooks to put them above my fireplace and they turned out so cute!

I accented my fireplace with some pumpkins and a bat garland.

I found the gold polka dot pumpkin at JoAnne Fabrics (you could easily make your own but I got it 60% of last year so it was worth it to just buy it) and the gold and white pumpkins at Michaels. I also found super cute pumpkin rhinestone stickers at Michaels on an awesome sale and they were really easy to stick on the pumpkin.
